Pink Shirt Day began on 2007 in Nova Scotia, Canada, when two grade 12 student, David Shepherd and Travis Price, organized a protest by distributing 50 pink shirts to support a ninth-grade student who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt at school. This act of solidarity sparked a movement to stand against bullying everywhere. Two year later in 2009 the movement started in New Zealand.

In Canada it is celebrated on last Wednesday in February and in New Zealand the third Friday in May

True advocacy begins when we turn empathy into action and use our voices to lift those who are unheard.”
