Founder’s Story

Differentability2 was born in a season of deep grief, reflection, and divine direction. The ending of 2023 I lost 90‑year‑old grandmother, the matriarch and spiritual anchor of our family.

Losing my grandmother was not the first time I felt a kind of grief that shakes you at your core, the kind that leaves you sitting in silence trying to understand how life can change in a single moment. I felt that same grief wash over me the day the doctors told me my daughter would be born with Down syndrome (99.9%) and that her chances of living a “normal” life were low because of medical complications. It was the same heartbreak, the same fear of the unknown, the feeling of lost. A month after saying goodbye to (“Ma”) my dearly loved grandmother I found myself sitting alone in a coffee shop, overwhelmed and searching for clarity. In that quiet moment, the Lord placed a clear prompting on my heart: “Share your journey –“Differentability”.

My first reaction was, “God, no way. You have the wrong Jasmine.” (if you know me, I’m more comfortable behind the screens.) But, when God calls you, you can’t outrun it.

Over the months that followed, God began to reveal the vision piece by piece. What began as a simple act of obedience became a calling rooted in purpose, advocacy, and community. Two years later, I am walking boldly in the purpose He set before me, sharing our story and building a movement that uplifts families like mine.

My name is Jasmine, and I am a single mother of three incredible neurodivergent children. My sons are 23 and 13, and my daughter is 8. Each of them has been diagnosed with ADHD, my daughter, born with Down syndrome, received her ADHD diagnosis last year. Four years ago, I received my own ADHD diagnosis as well. Our home runs on hugs, lots of it from little miss hug bug, deep feelings, creative thinking, and the occasional meltdown, but hey, that’s family life with extra sparkle and its a joyful circus of brilliance.

Differentability2 stands as a testament to resilience, faith, and the extraordinary beauty found in every kind of mind. What began as a moment of grief and divine prompting has grown into a movement that uplifts families, celebrates neurodiversity, and challenges the world to see ability through a new lens. Every product we create carries a message of hope, visibility, and belonging, because no family should ever feel alone in their journey. By choosing to shop, share, and stand with us, you become part of a community rewriting the narrative around disability and neurodivergence. Join the movement. Wear the message. Help us build a world where every story is honored, every ability is valued, and every child shines exactly as they are.

Created for community. Crafted different by design. (Genesis 2:18; Psalm 139:14)
